Spirographs have a hidden history within printmaking. An inventor of one of the earliest version of the spirograph created a machine that utilized spirograph patterns as anti-forgery designs on Austrian banknotes and that became the inspiration for this series of prints. I have always wanted to explore a way to incorporate spirographs into my own printmaking process and I felt the best way to play with that concept would be to utilized them in monotype printing.
